Whys do international conflicts occur?   Our speaker, Professor Marc Hutchison, will review what 50 years of scientific study tells us about the elements that lead to conflict and apply them to contemporary challenges facing US foreign policymakers.  As an example, he will discuss China's Maritime Expansion into the South China Sea and describe what research suggests is the potential for an open conflict.

Professor Marc Hutchison. is the Chair of the Political Science Department at the University of Rhode Island.
