Dear WACRI Members and Friends,
On behalf of the WACRI Board I want to wish you a very special New Year. I hope that 2021 is a healthy and prosperous one for all of us here in Rhode Island and throughout the world! Despite the challenges of COVID-19, in 2020, WACRI has been able to provide, via Zoom, an excellent slate of presenters. From the Pakistani Ambassador to the U.S. to a Webinar on holiday cooking from Chef Brian at Los Andes Restaurant in Providence—our attendance has grown significantly and we are proud of our organizational nimbleness and accomplishments.
Before or after the New Year, I ask that you make a charitable contribution to WACRI which is tax deductible. The WACRI Board graciously acknowledges our top donor and former Board President and Board Chair, Hans Kuster, who continues to show his commitment to WACRI and world affairs. The Board also thanks the Newport Council for International Visitors, which upon organizational dissolution this year, made a final and meaningful contribution to WACRI.
With COVID-19, WACRI postponed membership renewals and kept a suggested low event fee of $10 (gratis for students), which sadly some participants have overlooked. The goal is to continue to bring important speakers who capture our attention and imagination with presentations that enlighten us about international and local topics, people and cultures. Today we ask you to make a contribution to the best of your ability: $50, $100, $500 or $1000.
