We all follow the grim news from the Middle East; everyday in the news and online we see pictures of violence, refugees, war and the results of a steady disregard for human rights and safety.  But what is going on behind the scenes?  What are the social, economic, religious and environmental trends that will shape the region but which we rarely see covered by the media?

Come join us on Thursday, November 12 as we explore these trends and developments that will shape the Middle East region in the next ten years.

Joining us are three experienced and thoughtful observers of the region who will share their views of what the region will be like ten years from now.  Our panel includes Mr. C.J. Chivers of the New York Times; Ms. Christa Case Bryant, former Jerusalem Bureau Chief for the Christian Science Monitor; and Mr. Isma'il Kushkush, a stringer for the New York Times and CNN, among other news outlets.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Heidi Lane, Associate Professor of Strategy and Policy and Director of the Greater Middle East Research Study Group at the US Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.

Our program will begin at 6 pm with a reception, and end by 8:45 after panel presentations and a Q&A dialogue with attendees.

We are pleased to welcome the involvement and attendance as our guests members of alumni groups from Columbia, Princeton, Dartmouth, Stanford, and Brown Universities, among others.
