Since the end of World War II, the United States has underwritten a liberal global order, much as Great Britain did during the 19th century. But changing geopolitical circumstances have weakened the United States relative to other powers.
Donald Trump's foreign policy has been criticized for a number of reasons, but he seems to intuitively understand that the terms of American engagement in world affairs must be reset. According to our speaker, this necessity may explain the disruptive character of Trump's foreign policy.
