Women, Peace and Security: a panel discussion on the role of women in war-torn societies.

Please join us for an insider's look at the role of women in war-torn societies by the Department of State's senior adviser on Women, Peace and Security, Ms. Stephenie Foster.

Our program will also include an exhibition of art quilts made by artists around the world to highlight the 10th anniversary of the United National Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

These quilts have been displayed at UN headquarters in New York and Geneva, at the Houston International Quilt Festival and various regional quilt shows across the United States, and at prominent American universities.  The quilts are brought to us by the RI-based non-profit Quilt for Change (www.quiltforchange.org).

Stephenie Foster has over 30 years of experience in domestic and international policy advocacy, government affairs, program development and training, and law, with a special focus on the critical role that women play in advancing public policy and development.

Stephenie currently serves as a Senior Advisor and Counselor to the Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues at the US Department of State, where she is responsible for a wide range of regional and functional issues.
