Calamity, Carnage, and Protracted Conflict in the Middle East:

Israel, Palestine, and the War in Gaza

Dr. Kevin M. DeJesus presenting

Dr. Kevin M. DeJesus is an Associate Professor of Social Sciences, Politics and International Relations at Johnson & Wales University, Providence. Professor DeJesus has lectured, researched, presented at conferences and/or studied in Accra, Ghana; Belgrade, Serbia; Beirut, Lebanon; Cairo, Egypt; Cape Verde, West Africa; Gaza City, Palestine; Milan, Italy; Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Regional Governate, Iraq; and Kosovo.
Professor DeJesus has traveled to the Gaza Strip on three occasions, first as a graduate-studies intern at the Gaza Community Mental Health Program, and twice as faculty to conduct short courses on social science research, and the qualitative research method for the staff of the Gaza Community Mental Health Program.
Deeply concerned with the broader Middle East, US foreign policy in the region, the Israel/Palestine conflict, and its impact on the regional politics of the Middle East, Professor DeJesus will share his insights on the core issues driving the conflict, internationalization and geopolitical dynamics impacting successive failures to resolve the conflict, and the current Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. Dr. DeJesus will also present his perspective on the question of whether ways forward exist beyond war in solving this protracted conflict, and what the international community must do to end the devastating state of war engulfing the region.
